I’ve been waiting for so long to write this post. It’s official.
We bought a farm. Really, Jed’s dad and his fiancée bought a farm, but we get to live there and work there and help pay the mortgage there.
I get to raise my children on a farm. They’ll never ask where carrots come from, because they’ll know. They’ll climb apple trees and pick apples. They’ll play in the creek and have a treehouse in the sycamore in the front yard. They’ll gorge themselves on mulberries as they sit in the swing by the front gate. They will see deer and turkeys and bears and know that we still live in a wild place.
I will get to work hard. I will plant, cultivate and hopefully harvest a good crop of organically grown vegetables and fruits that I will sell to subscribers. I will get to live my dream, which means that the romance might be gone, but that I will have callouses and fresh beets.
I’m excited to share this journey with you. I’m excited to tell you about our highs and lows and show you the cutest pictures of the twins doing cute little farm baby things.
My new business, a farm and CSA, will be called Las Palomas Heirloom Farms.
