Adventures with a Toddler in Las Vegas
As most of you know, we just had the first ever MommyCon at the Flamingo in Las Vegas this last weekend. It was a weekend full of firsts for me: it was my first trip to Vegas, my first time gambling (I lost a quick $10 in a slot machine on the way back to my room Saturday night), and my first time speaking in front of a group of people. Granted, it was a small group, but it was a first nonetheless. The entire trip went really well, and I am really thankful we were able to attend and be a part of something so amazing.
We started our trip with a night in Boise with the whole family, plus my mother in law, who thankfully flew all the way from Eastern Montana to take care of my kiddos (and Carl, hehe). We spent New Year’s Eve together, eating out and swimming in the hotel pool. We shopped all day on New Year’s Day, and at the end of the day Carl, the kids, and Nancy headed home, leaving Adele and I in our hotel room to hang out until the next afternoon. We swam some more, gave ourselves pedicures, and ate room service. Despite my being nervous about spending that much time in a hotel alone with a toddler, it was quite enjoyable. We rested and relaxed and had some fun one on one time.
The next day we headed to the airport for our flight to Portland, and then Las Vegas! Adele had a blast in the airport, riding on my back in our Didymos India wrap, and playing when we found play areas. She slept most of both flights, until the very end when she decided it was a good idea to shout “OOOOUUUUTTTT” at the top of her lungs. The poor passengers around us probably had slight hearing loss after that. But we made it to Vegas and after being met at the airport by Kevin, Jessica, and Alyssa, went straight to bed.
We had so much fun being reunited with our TMD sisters! Things were pretty crazy for some of our group, but Adele and I had quite a bit of downtime. We wandered the Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo, drank yummy coffee (their onsite coffee stands are quite good!), and hung out when we could. We were able to meet The Leaky Boob at the Meat n Leak, Jamie Grayson (who is just as funny in person as on twitter), and so many amazing mamas. MommyCon itself was such a neat environment, where you knew you could breastfeed your baby wherever you pleased, and chat about your toddler’s wacky behavior with your neighbor. I can’t wait for more of these conferences!
As for my seminar, it was titled Greener Living, and I found a ton of really fascinating information. I wasn’t able to share it all, so I want to share some of the other cool concepts I researched here on the blog in the coming weeks. I may also go over some of the topics I discussed, since they are really important to me, and I know that so many could benefit from hearing more.
If you attended MommyCon, what was your favorite part of the conference? I can’t wait for the next one!

I’m so glad I got to see you and Adele!
My favorite part was being with my grandkids and your beautiful Adele!! She is such a sweet heart and squeezed her way right into my heart!! It was great meeting all you fabulous moms doing amazing things for the worlds future society!! Loving you
“grandma” lol
It was great to meet you!! Your daughter is adorable and has so much great energy! I loved talking to other moms. Since my baby was only 4 weeks old, it was nice to leave the toddler at home, and enjoy my little man while talking with other moms!
