DIY Baby Mobile
I love doing DIY projects and anything crafty. I can’t wait until Mazzy is a bit older and can join in on the fun. I made her crib mobile with little owls before she was born and I continued the tradition with Zephyr. When Mazzy outgrew the mobile I turned the little owls in Christmas ornaments that we hang on the tree each year.
For Zephyrs mobile I decided to do elephants. You can do any animal, shape or color as a variation to fit your nursery.
Here is a list of the materials needed:
Embroidery thread and regular thread
Paper & pencil
Step 1. Draw a pattern for the elephant. I drew one elephant shape and one ear and reused them.
Step 2. Cut out the pattern
Step 3. Pin your pattern onto the felt and cut out the elephant. Then pin your pattern onto fabric for the backings and cut. You should have 1 felt shape and a matching fabric shape for each piece. Also cut out fabric ears.
Step 4. Sew the buttons on for the eyes.
Step 5. Sew on the ear. Sew on the tail.
Step 6. Sew the felt and fabric elephants pieces together and leave a small opening to stuff, then close.
Step 7. Sew a little thread hanger on the top.
Step 8. Drill holes in the dowels.
Step 9. Connect dowels with wax string to keep them in place.
Step 10. Hang elephants and attach a string to top to hang from ceiling.
All Done! Once your baby outgrows the mobile, you just snip the elephants off the mobile and they are ready to hang for Christmas!
