Community – I Am Mommy
Building community is incredibly important to me. I rely on my mama community for all of my semi-important questions without running to the doctor or ER. I bounce ideas off of these women and share the trials and tribulations I deal with in my home. In order to continue the growth of The Mommy Dialogues as a community I wanted to come up with a safe place that is private for mommies and mothers-to-be to vent, share and grow together. Those are the basic principles of MommyCon and bringing those to the masses via the online medium is a great way to get parents around the country involved.
About a week ago we started a private group on Facebook called I Am Mommy, and it already has nearly 500 mommies offering tips, tricks and helpful parenting advice to mothers and mothers-to-be. It is quickly becoming my favorite group! So many of the moms are located in the same states without knowing each other or of groups in their area so I decided to make some groups for different states and regions.
All of the I Am Mommy groups are “closed” groups which simply means that the general public can not see in without being approved by an admin. I am looking for local moms in each group to help with the admin duties (approving members, making sure nothing obscene is posted, etc.). I Am Mommy is a group that should be a welcoming place for all mothers whether you naturally parent or not, it needs to be a safe community where judgment is spared and education is welcomed.

I think that instead of just a Maine Group there is a New England Group. New England includes Maine New hampshire Vermont Massachusetts and Rhode Island and they are really close to each other and small.

I’d be happy to do the D.C. one! Just an idea, most of us here call it the D.C. Metro Area, it includes DC 7 the surrounding “bedroom” areas… Most people who work in DC live in Northern Virginia or Maryland… anyways. I’d love to admin
