Over the next month Atticus and I will be traveling around the country in search of MommyCon venues. We are first headed to Austin for a day and a half of site tours and Gourdoughs, then we are off to Portland for another 40 hour window with Kelli and Adele for site tours and Voodoo Donuts. As you can probably tell, we are traveling in search of the world’s best donuts… ergh, I mean, MommyCon venues.
Atticus is a trooper when it comes to travel and has been on about a dozen flights in his first 14 months. We have had one TERRIBLE flight which had me sandwiched between a 6’2 man and a 300 lbs man with a very fussy Atticus and I in the middle. The plane was oversold and there was no breathing room, and on top of the seating situation the plane didn’t have a changing table in the bathroom and our flight was running an hour late. It was awful, and I hope we never have a flight that bad again.
This week we are traveling on American Airlines which I have found to be my favorite when traveling with Atticus. The flight attendants are super friendly, and I have never had our flight be oversold. American has also upgraded us on one occasion… hey a girl can dream that it wasn’t a onetime deal!
So back to the donuts…
My husband can tell you that I am a healthy eater, but there is something about crazy junk food concoctions that gets me excited. I will purposely go out of my way to get my hands on something that is INSANE. Case in point the funky Monkey donut at Gourdoughs… grilled bananas, cream cheese frosting and brown sugar. I can only hope it is as delicious as it sounds.
The next stop on the great donut tour of America is Voodoo Donuts in Portland. Risa has instructed me to get the bacon maple donut and the Captain O’ Crunch. I am going to try and sneak Kelli a GourDough so we can compare them side by side.
More importantly is if they will beat out my beloved Sweetwater’s in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
So yes, the point of this post was MommyCon…
