Meet Templeton…
Our lovely daughter has earned herself a new nickname. Templeton. You know… like the rat that scurries around hoarding food and trash from the childhood classic ”Charlotte’s Web”. That is what my 3 year old has turned into. She even scurries around in the dark sniffing out random things to stash away, either in her belly or some magical hiding place in her room. It is SO bad we have resorted to locking our pantry door with a lock and key. The key has to be hidden in different spots because she finds it and unlocks the door in the middle of the night. We are not quite sure why she does this but my best guess that she may have been a true scavenger in her past life and she is just having flash backs? Whatever the reason I have to say that as frustrating as it is, it is equally as entertaining. I can prove it… here are some of the BEST of Lily’s Templeting stories:
- One day I was cleaning up the girls’ room and I went to put something away in the top drawer of Riley’s dresser. As I opened the small drawer that is usually used for hair ties and such, I found a tupperware type thing that is in the shape of a sandwich. It is used for reusable sandwich storage in a lunchbox… you know, something that is normally in the KITCHEN not your kid’s top dresser drawer. There was that and an empty pop tart wrapper (please don’t judge… blueberry poop tarts are the BOMB.com) As humorous at is was at first glance, it couldn’t even compare to what was IN the box. 2 potatoes. Raw potatoes. Random.
- Same sandwich container went MIA about a week later so we asked her where it was. She runs back to her room and grabs it for us. Logan opens it up and it is completely full of Lucky Charms marshmallows. Yup. Just. The. Marshmallows.
- One Saturday night Logan got up with Harper because it was his turn. Upon opening our bedroom door he heard the sound of little feet fleeing across the floor. He slowly walked up the stairs to find darkness and the pantry door hanging wide open. He took care of Harper first and assumed Lily just ran back to bed. After Harper went back to sleep he then went into to check on Lily before heading back to bed. The crazy thing was that she was not in her bed. He started to look in the living room thinking that maybe she fell asleep on the couch. Nope. He looked around and found her under the coffee table with the iPad watching a movie. It was 3 am. The next morning I discovered a baby bottle full of water, a cupcake liner full of those damn Lucky Charm Marshmallows and an empty dum dum wrapper. Templeton at it’s finest.
What are some of the weird things your kids do?

This cracks me up! Hopefully you haven’t found any half eaten or perishable food items in her secret stash. >.< When she's done in the middle of the night, does she just go back to bed?
Oh yea we have sadly. And yes she goes back to bed. We found an whole container if eaten strawberries and the stems shoved under her pillow once. Oh and a half eaten and completely melted otter pop shoved in the couch.
Lmbo!
O my! THat is funny!
My sister used to sleep walk when we were kids and whole loaves of bread, jars of peanut butter, etc would go missing.. Turns out she was taking it when she was sleepwalking and hiding it in our closet.
Until I read this post I totally blocked out that I used to hoard Lucky Charms in my closet. My mom once found a 1/2 gallon of milk in there and thats when I learned milk has to stay in the fridge. LOL!! Great post!!
