Murphy twins: 10 month update
Tomorrow my twins will be 10 months old. This blows my mind and forces me to consider shopping for paper goods to make those first birthday invitations.
Clara:
16 lbs
27″ long
4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom)
Babbles (mama, baba, dada) and wiggles tongue back and forth while making weird baby noises. She also growls. On demand.
Officially crawls, in a normal way. No more frog hopping from this little girl.
Pulls to stand. On the furniture, in the bathtub, on mom, in the crib, on the wall, etc. Cruises furniture while she’s at it.
Nurses 6-8 times per day. We are currently trying to night wean. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Eats solids 3x daily, plus a snack. And I mean, she eats. Food is no joke to this one. She likes everything except liver, puréed broccoli, roasted garlic, and extremely spicy spaghetti that grandpa gave her.
Cormac:
14 lbs.
27″ long
6 teeth (4 top, 2 bottom)
Babbles occasionally, (babababa) but prefers to screech, coo, and giggle.
Rolls. Rolls everywhere. Wants to crawl, but flails violently, gets frustrated, and rolls.
Pulls to stand. This is a recent development for him, and he absolutely loves it. He wants to stand all day long, but his skinny legs give up eventually. Tries to stand in bathtub, but I refuse to help. One standing in the tub is stressful enough (they bathe together).
Nurses 6-8 times per day. He was sleeping all night (7-5), then nursing and sleeping for another hour, but has stopped sleeping all night. His weight is always in the back of my mind, so I am in no rush to night wean him.
Eats solids 3x daily, plus a snack. He’s a finicky eater and seems to like everything, but still spits most solids out. He loves those pouches of purées (which I use for travel), but I don’t like to give those too often. They are expensive and can cause tooth decay if used too frequently.
I feed both babies regular food cut into baby friendly pieces. For example, tonight’s dinner was quinoa with steak and zucchini. I just cut it up and let them destroy my kitchen. 3x daily. My floor is rarely as clean as I would like.
I try to cosleep as little as possible these days, but this is on the back burner with Clara’s potential night weaning in progress. Cormac sleeps on his own well, unless I fall asleep nursing him. Then we snuggle until the next round of nursing.
We were using cloth at night, but after two pee leaks in one night (using triple stuffed diapers), I put my heavy wetters back into toxic disposables. Maybe someone will buy them fitted diapers for their first birthday. Until then, we are back off the wagon at night. We do use cloth during the day.
Jed leaves for his second job in a week and he will be gone for a whole month, then back and forth for the next month. I’m intimidated by the thought of little to no help for that long, but I suppose we will make it. I hope to do so with minimal tears from all of us. Fingers crossed.
I’m very happy with how my little darlings are doing. They have surpassed my expectations and I honestly don’t see them as preemies any more. I know they are and that any delays are expected and forgiven for the first two years, but they really are doing great.

Jessica they are beautiful. I like the hint about diapers for their birthday lol. And when you need a break just come on up to Alaska
If you have a night time cloth solution that works most of the time except for occasional leaks I would just use a pull up fleece cover or pull up wool cover right over the top of their night time diaper. I do it all the time lol It’ll save the sheets.
