No-Sew Baby Leggings Tutorial

I love baby leggings. Between Jax & Elliot, we have 16 pairs. Most I have bought, but some I “made”. They make diaper changes easier, they keep baby warm, they make crawling more comfortable, & they are pretty stinking cute. This is a no-sew method of making these that only takes about 6 min. TOPS. Plus, you won’t need to go out & buy supplies. I know that you can make baby leggings more finished by using a sewing machine, but I will be honest….I can’t sew. I broke my Grandmothers needle on her machine 20 yrs ago when I was making pants out of a pillowcase. I haven’t touched one since.

You will need 3 things: adult knew-high socks, measuring tape, & scissors. You can probably use a rotary cutter, too. I find that the cute holiday socks make the best leggings. I happened to find this Valentine 2-pack at Wal-Mart for $2.50.

Measure 12″ from the top of the sock. I believe 12″ is the universal length of baby leggings.

I make a little snip at the 12″ mark so that I can cut a straight line across. Your cut doesn’t have to be perfect. No one will notice.

Continue cutting. When you are done, you will have a sock & a heal. Repeat the steps with the other sock.

Ok so about the hem of the bottom. The cool thing about  cutting these is that they roll up a little on their own, covering your unfinished hem. No one will be the wiser. When you wash them, they do not fray because of the roll.

That is literally it. In the time it takes to put on a load of laundry, you can have some cute, inexpensive baby leggings. They fit EXACTLY like the leggings sold in stores.
