CLOSED: Review & Giveaway: The NoseFrida Snot Sucker

Sometimes a product is so great multiple moms have to review it, the NoseFrida is just that type of product. It is affordable, compact and oh so easy to use. Please read on to hear what Geneva and Xza have to say about the snot sucker and enter for your chance to win one of your own.

Product: NoseFrida Snot Sucker

Brand: Frida Baby

Where to buy: Just about any fine baby store or online at http://www.fridababy.com/ & http://www.amazon.com/

Price: We have seen this as low as $11 and for as much as $25, it’s is available at Frida Baby for $15

This is the one and only picture I will post of my beloved Nosefrida, the nasal aspirator that actually works. Because truly, it’s disgusting. More than just a little wacky. Ben watched me using it the other morning and told me that he was going to vomit.

But, really. This thing is awesome.

The package boasts:

“It’s smart.
It’s Swedish.
It’s maybe a little strange.
It’s completely hygienic
thanks to the included filters.”

I agree, it’s very smart and very strange. I kind of dispute the hygienic part, however. Though no boogers are getting through, I am certain that germs still can and will. Do I care? No. Not really. I’ll get his germs from bed sharing and cuddles anyway. But it’s a thought.

When I first brought Coyote home and went to clean his nose for the first time, I used my finger. Not surprisingly, it didn’t fit. I tried the bulb sucker. I got decent results after 20 minutes of work plus a screaming baby. It sucked. (No pun intended.)

I had seen this on amazon and read rave reviews, so I decided that I needed one. When I first got it, I shoved the thingy up his nose, just like the bulb syringe, and sucked. DO NOT DO THIS. My only major complaint about the Nosefrida is that the instructions are written on the side in font size 2 and require a microscope to read.

How you actually use the snot sucker is by placing it on the OUTSIDE of the nostril, creating a vacuum. Once I did this, boogers came flying out with great success! And now you have the instructions, since you read this blog, so my major complaint is null and void. I did the reading for you.

I love my Nosefrida. I think everyone should have one. Coyote? He hates it. Screams his head off. But the screaming stops shortly after the sucking stops, which is damn fast because this product is efficient.

Atticus about to get his snot sucked

Atticus has a tiny nose; it’s kind of shocking considering both his parents have quite the noses. Let’s just say, neither of us has a small schnoze. From the time we brought him home from the hospital he has had a case of the sniffles. We tried a conventional bulb aspirator, but had no luck. He was not only making a ruckus with his snorting all night, he was obviously having difficulty sleeping and making the little sleep we were getting even more sparse.
When looking for solutions I came across the NoseFrida snot sucker. Yup, snot sucker. It works pretty simply; you suck the snot out of your little buds nose through a hygienic tube that is connected to a chamber with a disposable filter. It may not seem hygienic, but they promise it is, and I have yet to see a single booger get through the filter. Plus, between the projectile spit up and peeing on me at every diaper change, a little snot is no big deal.

The first time we used the snot sucker we were staying at a downtown hotel. Atticus was having trouble breathing and while my husband held his little head steady, I placed the larger of the tubes against his nose to form a seal. There is no insertion of any part of the snot sucker so it won’t damage his little nose. So while one end is on the child’s nose, the other is placed in the parents mouth where you begin to suck the snot out. At first we didn’t notice anything. Kevin picked Atticus up and snuggled him close. And then… I noticed a bloody streak on my husband’s shirt, I freaked out. First thing that popped into my head was that the NoseFrida broke my baby.

Of course I overreacted as most 2 week post partum mothers do. Before I could freak out further, Atticus let out a big sneeze and a bloody booger twice the size of his nostril came flying out! Atticus was finally able to breathe easier! The snot sucker didn’t break my baby after all; it actually gave him nasal relief.

about to suck some boogers

Atticus still has congestion and part of our nightly routine includes using saline drops and the NoseFrida. This is a must have for any mom or mom to be. Once you use the snot sucker you will never want to use the useless bulb aspirator ever again.

Liked NF on Facebook. Follow themommydialogues on IG (kyleklan). I would love to win this, Rylei always has boggers and hates when I try to get them out using the bulb syringe, and which they still never come out of her nose. I have even tried sticking her little fingers just to finish getting them out. Well, lets just say she wasn’t too thrilled with me even thinking about it.
