Not your Mama’s Pajamas

I have been looking for a pair of skinny jeans for what seems like forever.  Everyone and their mother’s skinny jeans also seem to be low rise skinny jeans.  I have carried and given birth to 5 children and I have the extra overhanging skin on my tummy to show for it….low rise jeans are not for me.  I’ve literally looked everywhere and tried on every kind of skinny jean I could find.  Either they didnt come in my size or I looked like a stuffed sausage in these low waisted jeans made for people without major curves.  So what’s a girl to do?  I was just about to give up when I went to Maryland for my best friends wedding who had been raving to me for months about her Pajama Jeans she had bought.  I had seen the infomercial and had a good laugh at her for buying them.  I mean seriously how could Pajamas’s ever take the place of jeans?  She wore them to pick me up, and she had to point it out to me.  They looked EXACTLY like jeans.  I was in total shock.  Once we got back to her house and I tried them on, I was totally hooked.  She had the boot cut ones, and at the time I had no idea skinny pajama jeans even existed.

Once I got home I hopped on the pajama jean website to buy my very own pair of pajama jeans….and to my delight I saw that they had skinny jeans!  I was so excited, and from the pictures they looked pretty high waisted so i decided to bite the bullet. I waited anxiously for my pajama jeans to get here, literally stalking the tracking of the package and the mailman.  I had just bought some gorgeous new boots from shoe dazzle (review to come) which would look fabulous with some skinny jeans and was so anxious to try them out with my pajama jeans.  Finally they arrived and as I danced into the bedroom ripping open the package I was amazed.  I mean I had seen my best friends so I knew they looked like jeans but I was shocked all over again once I saw them.  They literally looked exactly like every pair of skinny jeans I had ever tried on, but they werent.  I slipped into them and walked downstairs and my husband didnt even notice until I pointed it out?

“Honey I am wearing those Pajama Jeans”

“Huh?  Holy crap! They really look like jeans…let me feel them.  Oooo they are soft, they must be comfortable and they look great on you!  Makes your butt look nice”

So it’s obviously got the husband stamp of approval, which is always important.  Size wise?  I feel they are pretty true to size.  I am a 10/12 and bought the medium and it fits me perfectly.  It’s a little tight when they are freshly washed but they stretch out a bit after a few minutes of wearing.  They are quite possibly the most comfortable pants I have ever worn.  They are soft, stretchy and dont dig into my belly like every pair of jeans I have ever owned do.  They dont gap in the back so my underwear arent hanging out and the rise is very nice and isnt to high…but not to low either.  It covers and smooshes in my love handles which is good enough for me and really does make my butt look good.  All in all I highly recommend pajama jeans in general and the skinny jeans….particularly if you are like me and have been unable to ever find skinny jeans that look good on you.

As for price, yes they are a bit pricey at $40, but they have honestly replaced 99% of my jeans that were all at least double that price.  I love pajama jeans.  Now for the pictures….forgive my awesome hot mess of a hair and my husbands horrible pictures which necessitated me doing most of them in the mirror in my bathroom with me standing on my tub.

Ok I think I am the only person to ever say this but when pajama jeans came out I LOVED THEM… then I got them… Ok I hate my pajama jeans! They fit horribly and they are way to high waisted and make me look like I’m wearing those high waisted 70’s jeans, or maybe it was 80’s, whatever. Everybody I know hates them until they own them then they love them! I want to love them so bad!!!

The skinny version has a lower rise then the boot cut. You can see where the skinny hits me in the photos. The boot cut came up to my belly button which i personally am totally ok with.

If you want a pair of comfy skinny pants, the GAP makes a pair I love. They are black, skinny, stretchy, and soft, all while having a mid-high waist. I think they are called 1969 ponte legging, though they are thicker than legging. Try it you’ll like it. 🙂
