It’s party time! One of my very favorite parties I have ever done is this one that I am about to show you! Allister was our first baby born underwater, so from birth we have referred to her as our little mermaid. Her bedroom has been ocean themed, her clothes, her toys… it was only fitting that mermaids would be the theme for her first birthday party. I spent a lot of time planning this out, so if you want to use some of our ideas, please feel free! I will also share with you the vendors we used for the party. Printables to use for your own mermaid ocean party will be at the bottom of this post, feel free to use them for your own personal party! (but please don’t sell or reblog without permission, thanks!)
First things first – a party needs a venue and an invitation. We are fortunate to have a decent sized backyard, so we decided to host the party at our house.
For invitations, I made this:
(Back Side – So that the invitation doubles as a fridge photo after the party is over with!)
Next, every birthday girl needs a birthday outfit. We got ours on Etsy from a wonderful shop called TutuTwirls. It was customized to our colors and Alli loved twirling in it.
It’s also really super easy to make one on your own if you are in the mood to be crafty. We have done this in the past as well. We bought our crochet top from Little Girl Mart and the ribbon & tulle spools from Jo-Anns.
Birthday girls also need birthday headbands! We had ours custom made for our party by a lovely lady named Jillian, who owns The Little Pearl Boutique. I buy all of our adorable headbands from her, and they are always high quality. She made a custom matching set for Alli’s party. One for Alli, one for Zoelie, and one for mommy, all with starfish.
Next is the decor for the party! I made this banner with my cricut machine, scrapbook paper, a hole punch, ribbon & stick on pearls. It was pretty time consuming but it was not difficult.
You can also purchase banners like these on Etsy, there are many sellers who do it well.

I bought these tissue poms in the party colors from Paper White Designs. It is easy to make these as well, but I only have so much time, so I chose to buy from her instead.

Allister’s Aunt is a sushi-queen, and she made a sushi bar for us from scratch. Best part of the party.
Notice how there is no cake on her face? She wouldn’t try it. Haha.
