I have gone through a lot of trial and error the past two years with washing our cloth diapers. Finally a year into it I discovered the best way for us to wash them. We don’t have an HE washer. To be honest, you couldn’t pay me to have an HE washer. I like the top loader where I can control how much water per load. I’m sure there are people out there that do it successfully though. There are a lot of factors that may contribute to you tweaking these instructions, such as hard water. I discovered vinegar does not work as well with hard water. At our old home we had such hard water I purchased Rockin Green Hard Rock almost exclusively. I prefer to dry my cloth in the dryer as opposed to air dry or sun dry. If you have a tough stain the sun is awesome about naturally bleaching it out. These are basic instructions that should help with keeping your diapers fresh and clean.
Okay, are you ready?!
Not time to strip but you still have stinky diapers? Try adding a little white vinegar, Bio Kleen Bac-Out or Rockin Green Funk Rock to your wash cycle. I’m a huge fan of Bac-Out!!! You’re not supposed to use bleach or Oxi-Clean type products. I’ll admit in desperate times I have used both. They did not ruin my diapers however, I wouldn’t recommend doing it.
