TMD Summer Guide: Beach Gear

What: Wonder Wheeler

Price: $99.95

Stars: 4 out of 5

How it worked: Before having baby, going to the beach used to involve grabbing your swimsuit, slapping on some sunscreen and grabbing a towel. Bringing baby to the beach makes things a bit more complicated and for that matter we all need the Wonder Wheeler. The Wonder Wheeler is a beach push cart with extra large wheels and giant basket to contain everything from your towels to beach toys. It’s large enough to hold your cooler and over 100 lbs of gear. Going to the beach just got a whole lot easier. The only downside for us is that it looks like a beach cart, it would have been nice for them to snazzy it up, but otherwise it is completely functional and loaded with features.

What: Sport-Brella XL

Price: $55.95

Stars: 5 out of 5

How it worked: This extra large beach umbrella gives you a whopping 9’ wide canopy of UPF 50+ protection. The umbrella allows you to position it straight up, on its side, on its other side and at just about any angle in between. It has side flaps for additional sun protection and a 3 second take down action. We have tried a ton of umbrella’s and after purchasing 10+ with only partial satisfaction we finally shelled out the big bucks for the Grand-Daddy of umbrellas. With a new baby you can never have enough shade, and this umbrella delivers on shade, durability, easability and protection.

What: Mesh Beach Bag

Price: $10-$80

Stars: 5 out of 5

How it worked: This isn’t on any particular brand, but a must have for the beach is a mesh beach that gets sand out quick. Sand will be in all sorts of places by day’s end and the last thing you want is to be lugging a ton of it home with you. Mesh Beach Bags can be purchased anywhere from Target to DKNY. We find that a good size bag is key for lugging both your stuff and babies.
