What an honor

My clients are often taken aback when after all is said and done that I thank them. They paid me to be there, but for me it’s such an honor that they choose me to be part of this special day. Birth is so personal and magical that being able to welcome new life into this world makes my heart soar with the majesty of it all. Every birth to me is special, every baby, every mama.

Being a birth worker has taught me so much, and most of that I learned from my moms. These amazing warriors who scream, grunt or laugh their babies out. Who each give me a little piece of themselves that I carry with me. Who laugh with me and trust in me and believe in their bodies and themselves….and it isn’t just the moms, but the dads as well. Seeing the love between 2 people blossom as their family grows by 1 is something few people get to experience from the outside looking in. I feel lucky everyday that the universe has called me to do this work. To bring me into these growing families lives, who in turn enrich my life so much.

This is so beautiful Alyssa! What an amazing career choice. I know my doula made Adele’s birth. I seriously can’t imagine what it would’ve been like without her. <3
