WTF… we know, we know. We don’t use that type of language on TMD, but in this case we can. If you haven’t seen the brilliant marketing campaign by Clek yet, you need to.
So, what is the Foonf?
It’s a car seat. It’s a car seat that has set out to change the US car seat market forever. You want us to be more specific? Ok then… so here’s what all the hype’s about.
What’s the hype about?
If you’re a mom who likes to know about the newest and coolest thing, then you have likely heard about the Foonf. If you haven’t, you may be asking yourself what is the Foonf? Well the Foonf, made by Clek and due out in September, is the next generation of car seats. It touts itself as being one of the top extended rearfacing seats while taking up a fraction of the room of its comparable competition like the Diono Radian RXT ….and its new REACT technology claims to reduce the force of the crash that is transmitted to the child when he or she is forward facing by up to 40% in the event of an accident.
The Foonf is also one of the only convertible seats in the US market with an anti-rebound bar; something that is fairly common in Swedish and European seats and adds an extra level of protection. The Foonf also comes equipped with Clek’s patented rigid LATCH system, which makes installing forward facing completely idiot proof and allows the seat to recline while in forward-facing mode. One of the big things that makes the Clek a step above most of the rest, is its ability to work in small cars and to be able to get three across in the back of a sedan. Granted, at 17 inches wide forward facing it will be a TIGHT squeeze. It is quite a bit more narrow in rearfacing mode at 13 inches and would make an excellent addition for those wanting to puzzle several seats.
What’s our favorite feature?
Alyssa’s favorite feature is the fabric. It’s made of what they call Cypton Super Fabric and has permanent protection against stains, moisture and bacteria. The fabric is also featured on their Belt Positioning Booster…the Oobr.,
Xza is excited that she can actually fit three seats in her sedan.
We all agree that one of the best parts about the seat is that it can be recycled! This is huge since no other seat on the market can be recycled. Car seats that expire are just thrown in landfills, so this is a huge improvement in the car seat world.
All and all, we are all really excited about the Foonf. Alyssa has one on pre-order for her youngest child and is very excited to see what all the hype is about. Xza, Kelli, Jessica, and Risa are all planning on purchasing the seat as well.
At around $500 a pop though, we can imagine that they are seriously out of most people’s price range.
Why are we getting anxious?
The seat was originally due out in June, then July, then August, and now September. The seat has had a tremendous response and the delay is due to manufacturing taking longer than anticipated. We know we are anxious, but luckily none of us will have to purchase interim seats just yet. Although Xza’s son Atticus is less than an inch away from outgrowing his infant seat, so they may have to use another seat while they wait for their Foonf to arrive.
