I am a much better giver than receiver and have a hard time buying things for myself as I feel guilty over spending money on “stuff” instead of helping others. I get far more joy out of surprising others than I do from opening up a box myself. So when my iPhone 4 shattered into a million pieces I had to buy a new phone – like many I rely on it way too much. Like way way way way too much. From the simple pleasures of Words with Friends to Instagram to The Wonder Weeks App, and then I use it for all things TMD and MommyCon related too. My phone is my gateway to the outside world, and unfortunately I have gotten extremely accustom to my phone doing everything I needed it to do. When my phone broke it was already on it’s last leg as the camera was shot (no pun intended) I considered getting an Android, but stuck with the iPhone 5 as I was already used to the technology. I am so glad I did, because it is awesome!!
My top 5 Apps are…
Instagram – find me, my name is “atomicbaby” and “themommydialogues”
This is how this whole blog got started! I post and share my life and love to check in with my mama’s on a daily basis.
Scramble – find me, my name is “mamatomic”
It’s a word search game and I love playing it late at night when I am nursing Atticus to sleep.
The Wonder Weeks
Every mother needs this app for their 0-64 week year old. It is based on 30+ years of research and helps us navigate the “leaps” our little ones make throughout their first couple years. It is an essential app for any mommy and baby.
It’s kind of an app, right? It’s actually a plugin for your keyboard, and let’s just say I use it A LOT. Angry face, pouty face, snicker face, cat hysterically laughing face. You get the picture. If you are on Instagram it’s a must have for sure.
Smart Hands Lite
I really enjoy this app as I can’t always remember the baby sign language basics. This handy little app has a video attached to the words so you can see exactly how to make the sign. Atticus knows; Apple, Potty, Milk, Eat, Lo
ve. Although I don’t know how well he uses them, he certainly understands what happens after I use them.
Before using my new phone, I received a gift pack from PureGear to try out on my iPhone 5. You should check them out if you get a chance. I would be interested to try their Duealtek extreme case as I am prone to dropping my phone. Knock on wood I haven’t dropped my new phone, but I know it will happen sooner or later.
I have the Utilitarian and the Slim Shell and alternate between cases depending on my mood. I love the sleekness of the Utilitarian and that the kick stand/clip is removal. It also can be used on the Slim Shell. It has saved us on a couple occasions during dinner outings where Atticus hasn’t been too keen on sitting still. I turn on youtube and he can watch while we hurry and eat our food. It works well and is a mommy must-have if your little one will settle down with a little Sesame Street.
I also got the Roll-On Screen Shield. While I am glad I have a screen protector on my phone, the reusable kit is almost a waste if you are only using it on one phone (it only fits the iPhone 5). I love how easy it is to use, you just click your phone into the plastic base and roll the screen protector over it. It’s seriously SO easy, but it’s also $24.99 and is a bit steep for a one-time use product – even if they say you can use it more than once.
Oh and Risa, Logan, Misty, Jessica, Alyssa and Kelli are now going to have iPhone 5’s too! See I couldn’t just get myself one, it’s way better that we all have one. And that handy dandy reusable screen protector will get used by 7 of us. Yipeeeee!
