Review: Shea Moisture Baby Wash and Lotion

Product: Shea Moisture Organic Baby Wash
Shea Moisture Organic Baby Lotion

Brand: Shea Moisture

Price: $9.99 each

On our recent trip to Phoenix, as part of packing light I did not bring any baby wash with us. I’ve been using Johnson and Johnson that we received as baby shower gifts, so I thought that when we got to Phoenix I’d go shopping and find something new to try out. Well, both babies had an awful first day and wouldn’t nap around all the new people, so Jed and I strapped on our baby carriers and went for a walk to Walgreens to buy chocolate (we got some orange thin mints and Toblerone) and give the babies a chance to nap for half an hour or so.

They immediately passed out (they are powerless against a the snuggly effects of mom’s Freehand mei tai and dad’s Ergo) and we wandered down the baby aisle of Walgreens, where next to the J&J and the Baby Bee, I saw these unassuming bottles of baby goodness. I turned the bottle of lotion around to look for alcohol (look on your bottle too. It’s almost certainly there), and surprisingly, none!! I was sold. We bought the lotion and head-to-toe baby wash and washed our babies with it that night.

Pros:
It smells amazing.
It’s organic. No funky business in the ingredients.
No alcohol in the lotion.
It’s a fourth generation family recipe made in the USA.
It works.
It’s easy to find. Target, Walgreens, even some Walmarts carry it.
It wasn’t recalled.

Cons:
It’s not as cheap as Johnson’s head to toe.

I am seriously in love with this stuff. The lotion feels outstanding when we rub it on the twins at night before bedtime. It’s made a substantial improvement on Cormac’s small patches of eczema. It smells like frankincense and myrrh and I love rubbing it into my own hands after each evening’s infant massage.

Full stars. Go buy some tonight!

I love, love, LOVE this stuff! I bought it strictly based on how great it smells (& use it on me and the baby!), although yeah, organic is great. The Head-to-Toe ointment also works wonders on eczema, and is cloth diaper safe for rashes (so the company claims, and I haven’t as yet noticed any problems with our diapers)!
